The Wanaka Biathlon Club was formed in 2009 and is run by a group of enthusiastic volunteers who love biathlon. The club is affiliated to Biathlon New Zealand, our National Federation. Our volunteers have a wealth of experience, from shooting or skiing backgrounds and in some cases have international and even Olympic biathlon credentials.

Wanaka Biathlon Club runs the only on-snow biathlon range in New Zealand at Snow Farm outside Wanaka. The range was built with assistance from the International Biathlon Union and has since hosted athletes from the national teams of Russia, Canada, Korea, Japan, China, Australia and Great Britain. The club really enjoys hosting overseas biathletes - if you have a group or team and want to train on the best trails in the Southern Hemisphere, please contact the club by email.

The club welcomes new members and is actively engaged in developing the sport of biathlon, through instruction, training and the running of biathlon events on and off the mountain. For 2024, the club is running a full range of season-long training programs to teach new club members how to be a biathlete.
